Love it or hate it, Shakira’s “She Wolf” has been everywhere. And it refuses to go away. We never thought we’d see “Hot Chip” and “Shakira” in the same sentence…but everything is possible, right?

Summer is coming, and with it many music festival around the nation. The Chicago summer fest Lollapalooza (August 6-8) features more than 100 artists this year, like The Strokes, Phoenix, Lady Gaga, and others, but…where’s the Latin music representation?

Six of New York’s most popular restaurants -Freemans, Roberta’s, Lovely Day, La Esquina, The Smile and Vinegar Hill House – have come together to support Habitat for Humanity’s rebuilding efforts for the victims of the recent earthquake and aftershocks in Chile. Their hope is that this unique charity effort not only assists in the rebuilding of Chile’s infrastructure, but also serves to highlight the country’s food and culture.

For the first time  in its 9th year history, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, which will be held in Manchester, Tennessee from June 10 to 13, will host a tent just dedicated to Latin music. The tent, called Latino Alternativo. Curators Tomas Cookman and Amy Blackman-Romero from Cookman International/Nacional Records have created a dedicated space for the Latino audience, with performances  by some of their best-known acts.

Former Warhol superstar Mario Montez will be honored in a one-day  tribute to his trannylicious career. Some of his most popular cult-stamped films, including Jack Rivera’s Flaming Creatures and both parts of Mario Banana (one of his biggest Factory movies), will be screened during the aptly-titled Superstar! conference, which will take place today.
