Today, Banksy revealed his latest work: a dark, twisted version of Disneyland called Dismaland Bemusement Park. The Weston-super-Mare location previously housed an abandoned water park, according to Forbes. The Bizarro Disneyland features Cinderella in a carriage crash that resembles Princess Diana’s car crash, as well as Cinderella’s castle, which has been through some shit. Banksy even uses the £3 admission cost to mock Disney. “Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper?” the site reads.
Dismaland will be open until September 27. In honor of his temporary bemusement park, we’re looking at five parks across Latin America that have been abandoned:

Terra Encantada
This Rio de Janeiro attraction opened in 1998. There was a lot of hype surrounding the park, but it ended up being a source of problems. After one person died at the park, an investigation showed that there were serious issues with every ride.

La Ola/Atlantis
La Ola and Atlantis were neighbors, located in El Bosque de Chapultepec. La Ola was the only water park in D.F. It closed in the 90s, and it was an unofficial artificial beach before former mayor Marcelo Ebrard made it a thing in 2007. The park was reopened after being bought out by El Rollo, but that also didn’t work out.

Daytona Park
Finding information on Daytona Park was not easy, but it was a race-car themed venue that was open between 1998 and 2001. It’s located in the Hipódromo de Monterrico in Peru. El Comercio reports that it was a popular spot among youth back in its heyday.

Parque de la Ciudad
In Buenos Aires, there’s a semi-abandoned amusement park known as Parque de la Ciudad. It opened in 1982 and had 62 attractions. It closed in 2003, before reopening in 2007. It then closed in 2008 when the government said the rides weren’t safe.

El Mundo de la Fantasía
In Cuba, there’s an amusement park filled with giant plastic dinosaur figures. Currently, El Mundo de la Fantasía is mostly a place where goats graze, so it’s not completely abandoned. See more pictures here.
