Brazilian World Cup Fans

What is a World Cup without a soundtrack? Well, actually, it’s still a World Cup but the powers that be want to milk every global event with some heavy-handed “We Are The World UNITE!!” feel-goodness all in the name of ratings and money. With that in mind, FIFA has finally released the official soundtrack for the 2014 World Cup: One Love, One Rhythm: The Official 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Album. Yes, FIFA did actually trademark the phrase “2014 FIFA World Cup” so make sure to drop a dime in their cup every time you use it.

The album, as expected, plays it safe. The lead features JLo and Pitbull doing the exact same thing they‘ve done over the past 15 years. Brazilian pop singer Claudia Leitte makes an appearance for about five seconds to remind us all that the tournament will be held in Brazil. Santana, Wyclef Jean, and Ricky Martin are in there too because there’s no one better to fill the world/Latin music quota than those guys. This album also sees the EXPLOSIVE RETURN of the Baha Men! Who let the dogs out? FIFA did!

We decided to take a stab at our own version of an Official 2014 FIFA World Cup™ Album and let our readers decide which is better. Pitbull or Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas? Baha Men or Bomba Estereo? Ricky Martin or Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS)? Check out our Spotify playlist and let us know what you think!
