The Vendy Awards have been bringing together the best street food chefs in NYC since 2005 and now they’re getting ready for the 1st Annual Chicago Vendys! After expanding to food meccas like Los Angeles, New Orleans and Philly, stopping by Chicago’s booming street food scene was only natural. With apps like Roaming Hunger, an interactive map helping you track down your cravings infiltrating our smart phones and our cities, cheap eats and food trucks have become a part of our every day.
The Vendy Awards not only brings together people selling from trucks, but sidewalk and stoop chefs are also welcome, which means you’ll get to try the most authentic grub Chicago has to offer. As well as intense cook-offs, The Vendy’s will be raising money for Asociación de Vendedores Ambulantes (AVA), a non-profit organization that unites street vendors and their supporters to fight for regulations that allow them to sell products in public spaces.
The Vendy’s takes place Saturday, October 5th, 2013 from 1pm to 5pm at Kendall College. Tickets are selling fast, so grab them HERE!
