It is with great grief that I post this blog announcing the death of Marcel Curuchet, keyboardist of Uruguay’s No Te Va Gustar — the group that brought us rock en tu idioma classics such as “Verte Reír,” “Clara,” “Chau” among others. The band, along with Argentina’s Los Auténticos Decadentes, were on a U.S. tour showcasing NTVG’s latest junior live DVD, and were about to make their second appearance in a row at the LAMC. While on tour, the band came close to canceling their show at Bay Area’s Palo Alto due to Marcel getting shocks from the keyboard’s power source. This time, upon arriving to New Jersey for their New York shows, a motorcycle accident (a bike he rented to get to NYC) proved to be fatal and Marcel passed away at a hospital a few days later on Saturday, July 14th. We were very excited to work with these Uruguayan icons during this year’s LAMC, but fate took an unfortunate route.

We give our deepest condolences to Marcel’s family, friends and members of No Te Va Gustar for this unfortunate loss. Rest In Power.
