Next week two storms are set to hit Florida: Isaac & the Republican National Convention. Fox Latino News reports that a committee has just approved some tough measurements on immigration as part of the GOP Platform.
The new “overwhelmingly” approved stance supports E-Verify, a program in which employers check a person’s eligibility to work in the United States through a computer database that includes Social Security and immigration records. Secondly, it opposes in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants brought to the country as minors, as well as other policies or programs that give breaks to those who are here illegally.
But perhaps what got us a little more riled up was the fact that one of the measures includes completing the almost 3,000-mile U.S.-Mexico Border, which would cost US taxpayers about $4 million (per mile!) to build and another $6.5 billion over the next 20 years to repair and maintain. Not to mention, beaches along the border will face this chingadera:
Huffpost implies that Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is the man behind this machinery, or at least, legally behind it. As the author of Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration bill, Harvard/Yale grad Kobach has been pinned as one of the main anti-immigration lawmakers/influencers. But we’re not interested in being conspirators here at Re. We go by pure logic.
Building this fence won’t be cheap right? So the question is, does it stand up? Er, I mean, would it work? Would taxpayers be getting their money’s worth? So let’s think this one through a little more GOP, because you don’t need a degree from Yale to know that investing billions of dollars in something that doesn’t actually solve the problem is, well, inútil, and way more LOL after this vid.
