Que Viva El Coquito

The first time I ever heard the word eggnog was when I came to the States. I was baffled and confused (the word sounds weird, is all!). However, I always knew coquito.  I remember trying it was circa age seven. I chugged it thinking it was milk and ended up with rum hiccups.

A Navidad must in Puerto Rico, everyone I knew had a tía or a vecina who made coquito. By the bottles and bottles. Fear not, you can too.

Ingredients:
1 cup of coconut milk or 1/2 cup of coconut cream
4 egg yolks
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 can of evaporated milk
1 can of condensed milk
1 1/2 cups of white rum

Directions
Beat the yolks, add evaporated milk and other ingredients. Cook in at a medium heat. Add the rhum. Let cool and pack into clear or colored bottles.
