The 16th annual Chicago SummerDance series presents free Salsa dance lessons by Milly Acevedo and live music by Angel d’Cuba, performing Afro-Cuban music.
Angel d’Cuba, former lead singer with Cuban super-group Mezcla, now resides in Chicago and leads his own group. This group delivers blistering salsa, timba, soul, funk, calypso, and reggae flavored with the real music of Cuba. Angel has built a solid reputation in his homeland and now in the US as a dynamic performer and blender of styles, as well as a master of pure traditional Cuban music. In addition Angel is a prolific songwriter, with compositions spanning the styles of salsa, timba, merengue, pop latino, jazz, funk, calypso, samba and more.
The largest annual outdoor dancing series in the United States, Chicago SummerDance returns for its 16th year of jumping, jiving and bringing joy to Chicago’s residents and visitors.
