Known as the ” Queen of Latin Soul,” La Lupe has gone down in history as one of the most passionate and energetic divas to grace a stage. In the 50s when Havana was the hottest spot to party, she electrified the stage at Club La Red and sang so emotionally and intensely, Fidel Castro saw her as a threat. She was kicked out of the country and started from scratch in The Bronx, NYC, but never backed down. Acclaimed actress Lauren Velez of Dexter fame and her production team have rallied together for their Kickstarter campaign in an effort to raise funds to bring her inspiring story to the big screen, and there are only 2 days left! Lupe represents the power of the human spirit and this movie will prove that she couldn’t ever be silenced.

Producer Angie Mendoza of Remezcla caught up with Velez last year after she performed in the off-Broadway show of They Call Me La Lupe. She tells us how La Lupe inspired her and why this project needs to be heard, so make your mark!
