Word of the Week: Party

Latinos party. Hard to argue with that. Sure, I mean, everyone parties, but we’re really good at it – you could say we kind of have a reputation. Between drinking, dancing, and other things, we do it best. So here’s a list of a few of the many ways for Latinos to describe their parties, or otherwise (verb) their (nouns).

Party

1. noun:

  • El cotorreo
  • Fiesta (Also: “fiestón,” and for even bigger parties, “fiestonón.”)
  • Fandango
  • Pachanga
  • Parranda
  • Pedota (Nice.)
  • Pori
  • Parisote

2. verb:

  • Agarrar el pedo (Active!)
  • Agarrar cura (In case your party’s totally sick! GET IT?!)
  • Desmadrar
  • Enfiestar
  • Festejar (To celebrate.)
  • Guerrerear (For weekend warriors, I guess.)
  • Parrandear
  • Tirar desmadre
