Trailer: Juan of the Dead

We at Remezcla are very excited for this. Very. Excited.

With a title that pays homage to the old Romero classics, Juan of the Dead (Juan de los Muertos) looks to revive Cuban cinema after a rather ineffectual fifty years. Written and directed by Alejandro Brugués, and starring Andrea DuroJorge Molina and Luis Alberto García, this horror-comedy/social satire is, according to Brugues:

It’s a zombie film but it’s about Cubans and how we react in the face of a crisis because we’ve had a lot of them here over the last 50 years. It is a social comedy, it has a bit of everything. It has horror, it has action and it pretty much laughs in the face of problems.

The titular Juan, deciding that his country is facing an undead epidemic rather than an American-backed insurgence, decides that he can make a profit by selling his zombie-slaying services to people unable to do the necessary deed to the walking corpses of their loved ones. Look for the film in a festival circuit near you.
