El Museo presents: The (S) Files

The (S) Files is El Museo’s sixth biennial celebrating the latest and greatest in Latin and Caribbean artists living and working in the New York area. This year the exhibition seeks to expand the traditional definitions of what Latino art “is” by exploring the “aesthetics of the street,” as well as considering creations from other disciplines – fashion, music, etcetera – and viewing them through El Museo’s lens. The exhibition views urban environments as catalysts for social change, as cultures and ideas clash on the street, develop, and blossom before going on to influence mainstream culture.

The (S) Files opens to the public tomorrow as part of the annual Museum Mile festivities and runs through January 8th of next year. Check out a full list of featured artists here.
