Jenny Laura, Indie Pop Hustler

If you think there is no good indie pop out there, take Jenny Laura Jerez, a talented singer from Cartagena, Colombia and based in Miami could challenge fellow countrywoman Shakira to a hip battle.

Sure, she was crowned winner of the talent search Rumbo al Éxito 2008, sponsored by Walmart. But she is still hustling to make it big. Since then, she has opened for Jorge Villamizar (Bacilos frontman) in concert, and has worked with songwriters such as reggaetonero Noriega and Jorge Luis Pagán (Marc Anthony, Thalia).

Jenny Laura is also currently writing songs for upcoming artists in Honduras and Mexico and recently co-wrote a track for Zion & Lennox that will soon hit the radio. Just last night, she attended Premios lo Nuestro with Alexa Ferrari, a new artist she is writing for, walking the red carpet with reggaetonero De La Ghetto.

As if that wasn’t keeping her busy, she is currently traveling back and forth between Miami and Puerto Rico working on her own solo material, a mix of pop, rock, and urban. The petite singer-song writer bases her songs in real-life situations and hopes to release her debut this year. Don’t be surprised if you see her on your TV anytime soon!
