One of the revelations of this year’s LAMC, singer Ximena Sariñana, is also a veteran actress, and you can watch her on the big screen this weekend in her dad, Fernando Sariñana’s film, Niñas Mal. The NY premiere of this film is tonight at 10pm at the Hola México! Film Festival, so I can’t comment on the movie yet. What I’ve read so far makes me think it’ll be a pretty dramatic, funny, and adventurous movie all in one. Basically, it’s all about the feisty and rebellious girl, Adela, played by Martha Higareda, who is sent to the only remaining charm school in México by her father, the soon-to be governor of the state of México! I guess you can all imagine what happens when Adela comes face to face with the well-behaved, proper girls and teachers at this school! Desastre total!
But…. if the plot doesn’t entice you that much, one goood reason for heading to see Niñas Mal is the film’s soundtrack! You’ll find everything from Ximena’s soulful voice in “Como Soy,” to Los Amigos Invisibles, Sin Bandera, y Natalia y la Forquetina! Wow, these are some ridiculously catchy bands… so, i think its the perfect Thursday night plan!
